It took a lot of pain, considerable time and the ending of a few friendships, for me to finally get a handle on my emotions, and to stop being the sensitive, reactionary person I was…

I have been an expert at reacting. I had a great teacher – my dad. In fact, people were scared of me. Scared of saying and doing something I would react to. 

People could push my buttons easily. I would read into what they said and did and took it personally. I would then react.

I was not one for controlling and suppressing my reactions, I let them out.  Sadly often in destructive and hurtful ways. 

Being the angry, hurt, aggressive, and reactionary person I had become is not who I wanted to be. 

I knew I needed to and ‘HAD TO’ change my reactionary ways. I committed to understanding what I was doing and why. I got a handle on each stage of my reactions and worked out the steps I needed to take to change them. I grew my ability to respond instead.

It was not easy. It took time, stuff ups, more reactions, and painful outcomes, but I got there.

Now I am triggered far less. If I am, I can process and shift what I am feeling very quickly. The beautiful thing I love the most, I rarely feel painful emotion due to the healing I have done.
